Getting To & From Auckland City & Region
Air: Auckland is serviced by Auckland International
Airport and also has large numbers of domestic flights linking it with
the rest of the country. Auckland International Airport is the main
gateway for international tourist to New Zealand.
Auckland International Airport is located 21km from the city. The Air
Bus runs every 20 minutes from downtown Auckland, and the trip takes around
fourty minutes.
Coach: Several companies offer a wide range
of scheduled services throughout the North Island.
Coach Tours: Many coach tours depart from
Auckland on short-break trips (one to three days) to destinations such
as the Bay of Islands, Waitomo Caves and Rotorua. Long tours can also
be arranged. For budget travellers, a number of backpacker
bus companies run a range of services from Auckland.
Ferries: Commuter ferries link the central
city with the North Shore and many of the islands in the Waitemata Harbour
and Hauraki Gulf including: Waiheke Island, Great Barrier Island,
Kawau, Tiritiri Matangi, Rangitoto
All ferries depart from the historic Auckland Ferry Buildings located
