Canterbury

Canterbury is New Zealand's most diverse ski regions. Mt Hutt is one of New Zealand's top commerical ski areas, then there is a number of smaller club fields. Canterbury's ski feilds can easily be reached from Christchurch. If you want to be really close to the mountains Methven is the ideal location to base yourself. Hanmer Springs is also a unique destination with its famous thermal hot pools. There is good range of accommodation for all budgets, and plenty of restaurant, cafes and bars to enjoy in all of these destinations.
