Shopping in Christchurch

The main shopping streets in central Christchurch are Colombo, Cashel (particularly the Mall) High, Hereford, Gloucester and Armagh Streets.

One of the best places for antiques is Victoria Street, just in front of the Parkroyal Hotel, or the Merivale Shopping Centre. Maps of the antique dealers in Christchurch are available at the Christchurch & Canterbury Visitor Centre.

Situated between Armagh & Gloucester Streets is New Regent Street, a cobbled street with an exciting mix of boutique shops.

For craft lines purchased straight from the studio, the Arts Centre in Worcester Boulevard is the place to visit. The Arts Centre is also a market venue every Saturday and Sunday. Another market operates in Cathedral Square on Thursday and Friday.

There is also excellent shopping in the malls, which are situated in the suburbs. The most upmarket is at Merivale, the largest are at Riccarton and Northlands.
