Activities include Official Festival Opening Crowning of Festival Queen, Timebuster Southern Festival of Speed Dunedin to Brighton, Veteran Car Rally, Dragon Boat Racing, Last Night of the Proms, Baldwin Street 'Gutbuster', and Octagon Tug-of-war
March
  • Scottish week, Dunedin - the week highlights Dunedin's strong Scottish traditions yet reflects its own style in this wonderful celebration. Daily concerts, activities and guest speakers, Highland and Scottish dancing, pipe bands, genealogy research and public dances are some of the featured events.
  • Dunedin Fashion Show - talented Dunedin fashion designers showcase their collections in the city's premier fashion show. Held on the 110 metre platform of the Flemish inspired neo-gothic Dunedin Railway Station.
  • Dunedin PGA Golf Classic - Set at the stunning Chisholm Park Golf Links by the sea.
  • Dunstan Trail Classic A fully supported two-day mountain bike ride through spectacular Central Otago countryside.
May
  • Regent 24-Hour Book Sale - New Zealand's largest sale of second-hand books (200,000 to 300,000 books). Continuous 24 hours of mid-winter fun, live entertainment and book bargains.
July
  • Taste Otago Dunedin Food and Wine Festival - enjoy varied cuisine and experience new tastes by local restaurants, food producers, winemakers and breweries.
  • Cadbury Chocolate Carnival - Chocolate lovers have the opportunity to indulge in their favourite treats, with a full programme of events, including the Choc Art Awards, Jaffa Race down the world's steepest street, Chocolate Fair in the Octagon and the Cadbury Kids' Bake-off.
October / November
  • Dunedin Rhododendron Festival - Dunedin's climate and soil are particularly well suited to growing rhododendrons. During the main flowering season (September to November) the city's public and private gardens are ablaze with colour. People enjoy the festive week of activities, guest speakers and garden tours.
