Water Transport Charter Boats


Getting To & From the Marlborough Sounds

Cook Strait Ferry Crossings Wellington-Picton: There are now several ferry services operating between Wellington and Picton.

Air:Sounds Air - regular daily scheduled services to Wellington from Picton Airport (based at Koromiko). The regions main Airport is located in Blenheim (30 minutes drive), which has regular scheduled services to Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch, and many other towns in New Zealand.

Water Transport: Picton is the main gateway to the Queen Charlotte Sound. Many place in the Queen Charlotte do not have road access, so water transport is the only option. There are several companies offering regular services around the Queen Charlotte Sound, and its also possible to hire water taxis.

Havelock is the main gateway to the Pelorus Sound.

Coach: Daily bus services are available from Picton to and from Nelson, the West Coast and Christchurch. Buses also available to meet the Picton ferries.

Train: Tranz Scenic Coastal Pacific Express operates a daily return service between Christchurch and Picton.
