Wanaka

The crystal-clear waters of Lake Wanaka, New Zealand's fourth largest lake reflect the snow-capped peaks of Mount Aspiring National Park, whose dominant feature is Mt Aspiring, towering above a magnificent glacier-sculpted wilderness.

A wide range of attractions and adventure sports is all within reach of Wanaka. Take a scenic cruise on the Lake, sample locally made wines, or fish at one of the easily accessible spots. Alternatively, venture into the hills and mountains surrounding Wanaka. Mountain biking, tramping and climbing are all available in this area. Wanaka is also one of New Zealand's top ski destinations, with four ski and snowboarding areas nearby.

There is broad range of accommodation in Wanaka for all budgets. Wanaka is also an ideal family holiday destination, as well as an opportunity to see the country at its most splendid.

Wanaka is also an ideal location to explore the Southern Lakes region, Queenstown is a 50 minutes drive (65 kms) across the Crown Range, Cromwell (55 kms) and Alexandra (86 kms) are also only a short drive away.
