Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow is one of the
largest warbird airshows in the southern hemisphere. Warbirds was started
by Sir Tim Wallis in 1988, and has grown to the point that almost 100,000
people attend the biennial event over Easter weekend.
Warbirds Over Wanaka is three days of classic aircraft and modern jets
in aerial action over Wanaka,
plus a variety of military vehicles, vintage machinery, and Classic Fire
Engines on show on the ground. Aircraft in action at Warbirds Over Wanaka
International Airshow include biplanes from World War I, a wide range
of World War II aircraft, and the fighters that flew in Korea and Vietnam
conflicts. The aircraft are all flown in exciting scenarios that recreate
history right before your eyes.
