Punakaiki is one of the most popular destinations on the West Coast of New Zealand, due to the famous Pancake Rocks & Blowholes. Accommodation in Punakaiki is limited due to the small size of the township. However there is several hotels, bed and breakfast, hotels, lodges and backpackers located in the town. Many visit to Punakaiki choose to stay in Greymouth which is the largest town on the West Coast and only 30 minutes drive south of Punakaiki.
When it comes to dining in Punakaiki there several cafes and restaurants.
Punakaiki is a good place to pick up some souvenirs of your trip to the
West Coast.

Activities and Attractions In Punakaiki
While most visitors come to see the Pancake Rocks and Blowholes, there is in fact a wide range of outdoor activities available in Punakaiki or nearby. It is possible to go hiking, canoeing, caving, climbing, mountain biking, and horse trekking.
The Truman Track (3kms North of Punakaiki) is a highly recommended short walk (15-30 minute) down to a stunning beach. There was a number of longer day and multi day walks in the Punakaiki area.
For the more adventurous the Fox Tourist Cave is an 90 minute hike from the main coastal road (about 20 minutes drive north of Punakaiki). The Fox Tourist Cave is open to the public (no entry fee), but remember to take a torch.
